Gift quilt

We have a dear friend who is very sick.

She has been fighting cancer for some time now, each time successfully. This time, the doctors say it has spread, it is inoperable, and she has less than a year to live.

Whether she has another month, another year, another decade, or another lifetime, I wanted to give her a quilt made with this fabric.

I think it is beautiful, which is why I didn't want to cut it up. So I simply bordered and backed it in black.

Her daughter, who is her caregiver, said that she sometimes gets cold, and this will definitely come in handy.

Good. :)

  1. The quilt is beautiful Laurel...and you are right to not cut it up but to sew it like it is. I have lost 4 good friends to cancer, and my heart feels for you! It is so hard to know they will be going 'home' soon, but if she is a Believer in Jesus, then you know you'll be with her always! That is our comfort and hope. I'll pray for her and her precious daughter~ The quilt will bring her comfort I'm sure knowing she can wrap up in your Love!

  2. Laurel, this was a beautiful thing to do. You feel so helpless when someone is so sick and fighting for her life. This is a gift to her and also to yourself. It is somehow a relief to know you can do something that will make her feel more comfortable and loved at a really tough time.
