Imagine my surprise last week, when I went to Paula's blog and saw that I had won the apron giveaway!
It is beautiful; it is reversible, and it came with oven mitts. It arrived just in time for Mother's Day!
Many, MANY heartfelt thanks to Cynthia of Heavenly Hostess for the fanciest apron I will probably ever own, and to Paula for creating such a beautiful fabric line and being a part of this giveaway! Muah!

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - Apron Quilt
It's been awhile since I had any new aprons. And, actually, today's entry is not about something that I have personally sewn. It is about a combination of two of my passions--quilts AND aprons! Woo hoo!
At one time, this quilt was created by a group of quilters through a Block of the Month (BOM) club. It apparently happened last year, and thus is now closed, but Cozy Cottage Fabrics has the pattern over here.
You may even remember this quilt I showed you in an earlier post (well, I think I did!).
I just love these apron quilts.

A few February finishes
I actually completed some of the things on the February to-do-list!
I finished my blocks for the Modern Siggy Swap--all 101 of them.
I finished an apron for the black and white apron challenge (less fancy than I'd hoped, but form needed to follow function this time).
I finished the sets of reusable grocery tote bags for the local food bank--I think there were nine in all.
My daughters' skirts have been started, at least.
There were a couple of unexpected finishes, as well.
Like these personal care bags (our sewing circle creates these great little drawstring bags for a couple of local ministries who serve those that are homeless, in crisis, or in transition; they contain hotel toiletries.) I probably sewed a few dozen, and helped stuff most of them. We completed 367 (I think) in the past week and a half.
A great new recipe for doughnut muffins. Kevin and Amanda blogged about them, and they got the recipe from Fine Cooking. Thanks, guys, for alerting me to the existence of a fabulous fat-and-calorie laden muffin, which tastes like a doughnut. SO good. DD2 asks to make them almost daily. Hate you two.
And a couple of puzzles, just for fun.
Now, don't ask me what I must get done THIS week.

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - monogrammed black and white apron
We don't have any new aprons on the design table right now, so I thought I'd share this apron with you. It is store bought (we did not make it), but we really like this style. Incidentally, the color scheme, black and white, puts me in mind of Amy's newest apron challenge, the Black and White theme apron challenge! I love the look of a black and white apron; I have to think of what style I'd like for this!

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - Donut Apron
Look at what I got for Christmas!
My younger daughter made this fun donut apron for me for Christmas! She used my apron book
to make it.

This fabric is part of the Timeless Treasures line, called Got the Munchies?
I think this is just the most fun fabric! We are listing this donut fabric, along with other fabrics from this line
in our Etsy shop. And there are other great food fabrics, as well:
Yum!

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - Turkey Apron
It just occurred to me, I forgot to show you the aprons we made for Thanksgiving! We found some apron panels reduced at our local fabric superstore, so we bought three (one for each of us girls). The panels are nice; they make it easy to cut out the pieces and assemble them.
Hope you are enjoying your Thanksgiving, um, Christmas season. :)

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - Sweets Apron
We love the gathered half apron style around here.
Can you see the two little pink strawberries on the pocket?
Deliciousness.

Tie One (apron) On Tuesday - Peppermint Candy Apron
Here is my Peppermint Candy apron! What do you think?
Angry Chicken had an open invitation for anyone who might be interested to join her in creating a Peppermint Candy apron. Here are photos of all of the aprons that were created for this. They are just adorable!

Tie One (apron) On Tuesdays!
I have been on an apron kick here recently. But I'm not alone; aprons seem to be making a serious comeback these days:
I have been on an apron kick of sorts recently. I read a really great post about aprons, then I read a good many blogs about aprons, and visited several sites which featured cute aprons, and…you know how it goes. I’m sure it has happened to you, too. I talk more about this on my other site.
On one of the sites that I visited, there was a reference to “tying one on.” There’s even a national Tie One On Day coming up!
And that’s when I decided to make Tuesdays (or at least, this Tuesday) a Tie One On day for me. Remember my last blog entry, where I admitted my need for clearly defined days, if I hoped to accomplish anything at all? I thought this would be a good solution to feed my apron habit. So, this apron is this week’s experiment. I may just take it with us on Saturday; we will be vendors at a holiday bazaar of sorts, and this would look great on the table. I’m also seeing if I like the look of this apron enough to use this pattern in Amy’s Peppermint Candy apron thingie.
What’s funny is, I had been searching and searching and searching for a cute apron that would not make me look fat. I’m certain you’ve noticed how an apron visually adds, oh, about 50 pounds? So, I looked high and low…
Until I realized that, unless the wearer of the apron is slim and trim, the apron is not going to perform any miracles. Oh, well.
