I was overwhelmed with your kind comments and well wishes, and had no idea the number of followers would more than double! I will therefore be giving away TWO sets of the batiks!

I asked Thing 1 and Thing 2 to pull names for me:

I SO wish I could give every one of you a batik pack; I just want you to know that. :)

Congratulations to...

A giveaway!!!

To celebrate reaching 25 followers, I promised you a giveaway; here it is!

There are eight beautiful batiks shown here. These are Timeless Treasure batiks in the Tonga line. The lucky winner will receive a quarter yard cut of each one of these! Just think; two full yards of batiks!

All you need to do is leave me a comment below, and you will be entered into the giveaway. Because this is to celebrate my followers, you will receive two entries if you are (or choose to become) a follower. PLEASE make sure that I can email you!!! Some of you do not have your email addresses attached to your user name, so unless you include your email in your comment, I will not be able to enter you into the giveaway.

Also in celebration of the 25th follower, I will give you 15% off your total in my Etsy shop. (Wait for the discounted invoice before you pay!)

This giveaway and shop discount will close on Friday, June 25th at midnight EST.

June Friday Night Sew-In: The Day After

While I didn't get a great deal of sewing done, I was very productive last night!

I loaded up the shop (these batiks are just a few of the things I added):

I finished cutting out the blocks for my picnic quilt:

I sorted and purged some books, and I cleaned up my sewing area (boring; no pix needed...)

I created a design wall! It's very low brow, mind you; I simply hung a piece of flannel backed tablecloth on the wall behind my sewing table, with the flannel side facing out. And the blocks you see on it are the string blocks I have sewn thus far (I added two last nite):

I may have to do this again!

More details to follow about these string blocks, and about the giveaway, as well...

Gift quilt

We have a dear friend who is very sick.

She has been fighting cancer for some time now, each time successfully. This time, the doctors say it has spread, it is inoperable, and she has less than a year to live.

Whether she has another month, another year, another decade, or another lifetime, I wanted to give her a quilt made with this fabric.

I think it is beautiful, which is why I didn't want to cut it up. So I simply bordered and backed it in black.

Her daughter, who is her caregiver, said that she sometimes gets cold, and this will definitely come in handy.

Good. :)

All About Trim

I don't know if you have seen this button on my sidebar or on other blogs, or perhaps you've even got one on your blog!

I finished up a couple of items that highlight the use of trim. The tote is a free pattern (I don't think Joann still has this), and the pincushion is my own design, inspired by her (scroll all the way down to see her marvelous creations).

I don't often go the extra mile and use trim in my creations, but I had just been gifted with some absolutely wonderful trims, and wanted to use them.

And I love this food fabric, so I wanted to use some of that, as well.

Fruity fabulousness!

Sometimes...

Quilting and blogging take a back seat to living. To spending time with daughters who will only be 12 and 14 once, and who asked to see a Shakespeare in the Park production of As You Like It.

Sunday Stash: Seersucker?

I have to admit it. I really really like seersucker fabrics.

Since I try not to do too much garment sewing, perhaps I can figure out a way to use these in a quilt? I've seen a few other daring quilters use seersucker fabrics, and with great success. Maybe I'll try one day, too...

And, one day, I will start a Sunday Stash post before dinner.

The Bloggers' Quilt Festival continues--at least for me!

I am still trying to make my way thru the BQF links! I am currently on #500 out of 677 entries!

I absolutely love looking at quilts, but even this is a bit much! LOL! But that's ok; sometime before the fall Fest, I'll finish looking at the links in this one!

Spring to Finish 2010: In brief

Remember the Spring to Finish 2010 Challenge?

My original post was April 23. I kept track of my list over on my sidebar. So, today, the day after the official end of the challenge, I decided to review my progress.

The purple House quilt for my older daughter's birthday in April was completed (I blogged about it)

The pink Fresh Vanilla quilt for my younger daughter's birthday last month was completed (I blogged about it)

The baby quilt for the baby born to a friend was completed (I blogged about it)

I read Raising a Modern-Day Princess (but I need to go back and take notes)

We planted three containers (but have two empty ones)

We finished the homeschooling year (but we are putting the finishing touches on the portfolios)
We did spring cleaning on the main floor of the house (we need to do some deep cleaning on the second floor and in the basement)
Some things are completely taken care of, a few others need a bit of follow-up. All in all, I am pleased with our progress. I'm supposed to state how I will reward myself. Ummm...as a reward, I will probably embark on a new quilt! Many thanks to Jacquie of Tallgrass Prairie Studio for hosting this; I apparently needed it!
